I was walking through the park with Wes and we decided that we should take an air tour of all out favorite beaches in town. So we grab onto this magical pole that appears and it rises into the air. It doesn't go too high, we are not above the many evergreen trees that surround us. It slowly gains speed until we are rushing through the air. We feel like we are flying, but are a clutching tightly to the pole that guides us.
We come to a river, like the one in Pocahontas, as we do the pole slows down and lowers a bit. We can now touch the water with out feet if we want, but both choose to keep our legs straight out behind us. We like this new speed and begin to talk about all the fun times we've had in the places below. I pull out my camera and decide we should look at old photos.
Now, I can clearly see the images in my head, real photos that we've taken. As each one flashes by for it's few seconds we laugh and think about that day. Wes it eager to get to a certain set of photos from a day we spent in Seattle at the Cheese Festival, I'm more excited that we are approaching my favorite beach.
The pole begins to wobble a bit and I'm holding it under my arms while I hold the camera in my hand. It shakes and moves toward the trees, to the point that I am brushing up against them. Wes grabs me and attempts to pull me over a bit, but it doesn't work. After a few minutes of turbulence it all evens out. We continue our picture journey.
We come to one picture in particular of our friend Megan (this is not a real photo that I have). We are looking and arguing about where it was taken and what was happening. We decide to ask Megan, so we journey into the photo. Megan and her parents are standing in line at the DMV. Wes calls out Megan's name and as she turns I snap the picture that we been looking at. As the photo appears, like it does on tv shows and such when they take a photo, we snap back to being on the pole.
We come to the photos that Wes wanted to look at just as we enter the main part of town. Now we have to stop at red light, and obey traffic. We are trying to make it look as though we are walking so we don't draw attention to ourselves, but the pole is just a little too high for us to reach the ground.
Wes isn't bothered and insists we just keep looking at the photos. We stop at a don't walk sign. I notice a mother and child behind us and am a little worried. I know that the photos we are about to look at may not be child suitable (these too are not real photos). Wes is just laughing and doesn't care. It's becoming a race, will the light change before the child is close enough to see the next picture? I'm really nervous....
The light changes and we're off. Just across the street is our final destination. We land on the beach and are greeted by our friend Elyse. She is ready to go make our weekly Friday dinner. As we walk I suddenly remember a version of The Sound of Music I went to see.
I jump back to being at the performance and ballet/opera. There are at least 20 or so dancers on stage performing ballet moves around a young Julie Andrews. She is singing a version of "Do-Re-Mi" that is part normal and part opera. I sit in the audience with amazement. This is the best show ever. I decided that Wes and Elyse NEED to see it. So I return to the me that is walking with them. I tell them about it and pull them into my memory.
After watching a few numbers we jump back to the present, we are now just feet away from my apartment. When we open the door I have a huge kitchen and a ball room area as a living room. Elyse goes next door to get some food. I clear out space in the very full fridge. Wes and I discuss re-creating The Sound of Music.
I'm nervous about this and thus continue to shuffle things around in the fridge, I'm no ballet dancer or opera singer! Wes however is brilliant at both and Elyse can hold her own. Wes begins to practice some ballet moves. I decide I can pull off the "Do-Re-Mi" number and insist that I get that part.
For a while we continue to practice singing/dancing and discussing the details, while chopping onions and garlic for dinner. After a few minutes I put a pan in the oven, as I turn around we are all in costume and there are hundreds of dancers ready to go in the living room. We must do a dress rehearsal before we can eat dinner.
We start with my number. As I walk to my position I begin to shake with nerves. I don't want to disappoint Wes and Elyse. Quiet falls...Then Megan burst through the door worried she is late. This makes me more nervous. Quiet falls again, the dancers around me begin to move, and I woke up.
Or so I thought. I got on Facebook to tell Wes about my dream. When I opened the page I noticed everybody had been writing on his wall. It was his birthday! Now, I feel terrible that i had forgot! And then I get really confused because I didn't think it was September. I'm all messed up. I decide I need to write him long birthday message and apologize for having my months confused. As I begin to type I woke up.
This time for real.
